Questions

Private Lesson FAQ

What if I've never danced before?

Beginners are very welcome. Lessons start with foundational movement, rhythm and the skills appropriate to your starting point — no natural talent or experience required.

Do I need a dance partner?

No. You can book individual lessons on your own, come as a couple, or gather friends and family for a semi-private group. Partner arrangements can be discussed before you book.

Which dances do you teach?

Approximately 28 partnership dances across Standard, Latin, American Smooth, American Rhythm and social styles — including waltz, foxtrot, tango, cha-cha, rumba, samba, swing and salsa.

What is the difference between private and semi-private lessons?

Private lessons give one person or one couple Jaklyn's full attention. Semi-private lessons bring a small group of friends, family or colleagues together to learn and enjoy dancing as a group.

Can you come to my home?

Yes. Lessons are available at a private studio space or in your home, subject to location and availability. In-home and studio lessons are priced differently.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing you can move in. Jaklyn will recommend appropriate footwear based on your lesson format and experience.

How many lessons will I need?

That depends on your goals, your experience and your learning pace. Jaklyn will recommend a progression during your consultation.
